SAVE INDONESIA, IMPROVE THE PEOPLE’S LIVES!
Today, the Indonesian people are facing a battered economic fate. The failure of fiscal policy is the most determining factor in the current situation. Nevertheless, US neoliberalism is the root cause of the fiscal and monetary chaos worldwide, including in Indonesia.
It is recorded that the State Budget (APBN) deficit has reached 689 trillion Rupiah, a figure equivalent to 2.7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This leaves only a 0.3% margin from the 3% APBN to GDP deficit cap stipulated in Law No. 17 of 2003 concerning State Finances. This state expenditure budget is massively swollen yet provides no solutions, as the APBN posture is dominated by the needs of the 8 Asta Cita Programs, including the useless MBG (Free Nutritious Meal) & KDMP, which instead disable the role of the people’s purchasing power.
Amidst this bloated budget, the Prabowo-Gibran regime is also incapable of managing international fiscal policies that continuously force Indonesia to sell off its raw materials in the mineral, coal, and energy sectors. Amidst the contradictions among today’s reactionary cliques, this fascist regime is also unable to control the political conflicts among policymakers. Consequently, all issued policies do not stem from accurate calculations for the economic welfare of the Indonesian people.
Lately, the people have been confronted with increasingly complicated problems. To date, the Rupiah’s status against the US Dollar continues to weaken, at one point touching Rp18,000/USD. Furthermore, the price of Pertamax fuel has increased from its initial price of Rp12,300/liter to Rp16,250/liter.
Naturally, this situation is inseparable from the stance of the Prabowo-Gibran regime, which remains fiercely loyal to the side and the false “protection” of US Imperialism. With the unilateral signing of the ART and BoP, Prabowo-Gibran have dragged the fate of the Indonesian people into the grave of increasingly significant class suffering. The US’s coercive power demanding larger export commodities from the Mineral, Gas, and Coal sectors certainly threatens the future of the rural population; the same applies when reciprocal tariffs are issued. These import duties on Indonesian exports to the US force Indonesia to immediately escalate its degree of oppression through policies that increase public taxes.
Under the leadership of the fascist Prabowo-Gibran regime, there is no political independence or modern economic ideas capable of spreading prosperity. Instead, there is only empty talk (omon-omon) through political speeches, attempts to lull the public to sleep (nina bobo) regarding the threat of crisis, the manipulation of the law just to “keep the boss happy” (Asal Bapak Senang), and leisure trips to Europe.
Therefore, it is our duty to build a fighting force by awakening, organizing, and mobilizing the mass movement of the Indonesian people onto the right path.
Based on these preconditions, the Anti-Imperialist Indonesian People’s Union Alliance (PERISAI) demands that the fascist Prabowo-Gibran Government regime:
Specific Demands:
- Stop the price hikes of fuel and basic public commodities;
